Ice conditions are sketchy in this part of the state but the bays and smaller lakes are sitting ok with about 4-8 inches of ice. The panfish bite has been awesome and walleyes and whitebass are a close second!

As this extremely weird winter continues, everyone is asking where is the ice?  No snow and very little ice has the Fox Valley area looking more like November than January!  However the tides are about to change later this week with a cold front coming in and some snow to boot....Lake Winnebago is anything but safe right now.  The main lake has open water spots and the bays have anywhere from 3-8 inches of ice.  No one has been able to access the lake as of yet so once the ice does form, the fish should be waiting!

Lake Poygan on the other hand has been seeing a lot more anglers as the ice out there has been in the 5-10" range with some scattered thin ice on the Northwest corner and over by the mouth of the river.  Crappies, Pike bluegills, walleyes and whitebass have all been biting fairly well the past couple of weeks.  Out from Captains Cove, the tip-up anglers have been pulling in some nice pike into the 40" range!  Panfish anglers are working the west end and over in Boom Bay.

Inland lake have about 6-8" and are easily accessible with no snow anywhere.  Fishing has been tough due to the no snow cover and clear lakes.  Fishing low light conditions has been the best approach to catching anything in the clear lakes.

Stay Dry and keep your lines tight!
